Fergus Kenny is voted in as Ventnor Rugby Club 1st XV Captain

At the recent AGM (22nd May 2008), Ventnor Rugby Club found itself in the enviable position where we had two excellent candidates putting their names forward to become First Team Captain – namely Fergus Kenny and Rob Newton. Accordingly all fully-paid-up Playing Members of the club were asked to vote. The result is that Fergus Kenny will lead out the First XV next season.
Fergus states, “It is a great privilege to be given the captaincy. I have spoken to Rob before, during and after the voting process and he has been tremendously supportive and has agreed to lead the pack. This is excellent for the team since Rob is a great motivator who leads by example”.
Rob states, “I am really looking forward to playing again after my injury problems last season. Fergie did a great job last year after taking on the captaincy in difficult circumstances and I look forward to leading his pack. We are both determined to win promotion back into Hampshire Division Two”.
