Blog No 1 - 9th June 2008
Well it’s been an interesting month since taking over from John Whitehouse.
Firstly let me thank the outgoing committee members, Tony, Leighton, Merv and John. They all have put in sterling efforts over the years and the club would not be in such a healthy state without them.
The club now needs to move forward again, and with a new committee and a healthy playing contingent we can do this. This is the year we need everyone to stand up and be counted.
James has been in talks with Biz and they assure me that the Memorial Plaque will be up before the start of the season and the Role of Honour board will also be updated. We also have the England shirt so kindly donated by James Rodley after his appearance for the National side at his age group and that too will be up before the start of the season.
John Newton has agreed to run the bar for us after Christmas (but will still provide food etc beforehand). Nigel has agreed to help out leading up to then and will be looking for Bar Volunteers to go onto a rota. On the subject of the bar, thanks very much to Nigel, Adam, Coops, Lauren, James, Hannah & Damo for their great work at the recent Vectis awards. I believe we took a good amount of cash and managed really well. It was the biggest turn out they have ever had!
