Match report Ventnor RFC 1XV dominate against Guernsey RFC 1XV Saturday 28th November 1998
Ventnor RFC 1XV 47-3 Guernsey RFC 1XV
VENTNOR had a comfortable victory last Saturday and at times played some excellent rugby.
After taking an early lead through a long range Martin penalty the home side appeared to let the Channel Islanders hack into the game as they equalised with a penalty of their own.
After this though it was all Ventnor as first Martin kicked his second penalty and then winger Stewart May was sent in by an excellent pass from KevinWheeler for a try which Martin converted.
Martin converted his third penalty shortly afterwards and Sean Adams touched down for a try. to give Ventnor a 21-3 lead at halt-Anne.
The second half saw Ventnor dominate possession and they soon added a third try through serum half Danny Monks who outpaced the cover for a superb score which Martin converted from the touchline.
Further tries from Leighton Bryant and another individual try by Monks saw Ventnor’s lead increase to 40-3 before a late penalty try and conversion completed the scoring.
Late in the game two substitutions saw Warren Fresle return from injury and Martin McMeachan make an impressive combative first team debut.
