Both teams enjoyed possession in a cagey first 20 minutes, before Shaun Williams broke through to score.

Ten minutes later scrum-half Paul Berry came off the base of the scrum and scored from ten metres out.

Both tries were converted by Ben Cooper, giving Ventnor a 14-3 half-time lead.

After the break Ventnor increased the pressure, with the forwards surging and the backs supporting effectively.

The floodgates opened as Cooper scored a fine solo effort, before Sam Lines scored two – the second a reminder of the form Ventnor showed earlier in the season as twelve players were involved.

Other scorers were Ben Lush, Todd Riches and Rob Newton, before Cooper flew over for the final try.

Cooper also kicked seven conversions, giving him a personal tally of 24 points, which gained him the AJ Wells Black Dog Award.

The Wightlink Man of the Match was award to Mario Testa and Tristan Price.
