MATCH REPORT

by Grant Richardson

Ventnor Lions travelled to Petersfield for their first game of the season and the first of five consecutive away games.

The game started badly for Ventnor with 2 quick try’s for the home team which was mainly down to the lack of experience shown by some of the new players. This was to be a theme of the game with Petersfield playing some good rugby from players that were clearly playing well within themselves.

However, the Ventnor team worked hard with many of the players making either their debut or a return after a long time away from the game. This hard work was rewarded in the final minutes when Colson made a storming run through several Petersfield players. However, he was to fall agonisingly short of the try line only for Blake to pick up and claim the glory of the try himself.
