In a brief ceremony yesterday at Ventnor Rugby Club, the club’s Chairman Ed Blake presented a cheque for £250 to Tanya Smith, the Fundraising and Marketing Assistant for St Catherine’s School.

The money was raised by a group of Ventnor RFC volunteers when the rugby club’s ground at Watcombe Bottom was used as a marshalling point and feeding station for last month’s round-the-Island Isle of Wight Randonnee 2022 on Sunday 1st May cycling event.

Ed Blake stated, “The club has a long affiliation with St Catherine’s and we are only glad to support this fantastic organisation and will continue to do so in the years to come.”

Tanya said,

“Donations such as these are so important as they help us buy specialist equipment to support our students, who all have speech, language and communication needs. We would like to thank Ventnor Rugby Club for their kind donation and we look forward to continuing to work with them”.

The Isle of Wight Randonnee 2022 at Ventnor RFC saw a band of hard-working volunteers from Ventnor Rugby Club became caterers for the day when their Watcombe Bottom base was selected as an official marshalling point for the Isle of Wight Randonnee 2022 on Sunday 1st May 2022.

More than a thousand cyclists took advantage of the facilities and refreshments available at the club.

The group’s leader, Roly Toombs, would especially like to thank Morrisons in Lake for somehow producing an extra 700 bread rolls and 200 hot cross buns on Friday night!
