The second Battle of Tewkesbury – Nags Charity Barbarians 10th May 2024
Led by our new Director of Rugby, Neil Evans, over twenty Ventnor RFC players, management and supporters travelled to the Midlands on the weekend of 10th May to play in a charity rugby event for The Nags Charity Barbarians.
The Nags are a charity rugby team that have been playing biannually for ten years raising much-needed funds for Cancer Research UK. To date they have managed to raise over £210,000.
This was the first time that Ventnor RFC have been represented at such an event – and not only on the playing front. Zoe Jones expertly led the physio team and Clive Cardwell-Hill coached one of the teams.
All the players played with fantastic commitment and proudly promoted the playing standard at the club. It is hoped that a lifelong friendship has been built between Ventnor RFC and The Nags in their pursuit of ‘Rugby to Tackle Cancer”.
The event at Tewkesbury RFC managed to raise over £30,000 pushing them ever close to the quarter of a million milestone.
The Nags next game will be at Farnham RFC, Surrey in 2026 and many of our returning Ventnor-Nags have already committed to it.
