Ventnor RFC News Update May 2025
We’ve just come out of two weekends of massive activity at Watcombe.
Kids’ Mini Rugby Tour 2025 at Ventnor Rugby Club
Firstly the Kids’ Mini Rugby tour on Sunday 27th April which was, once again, a great event held on a beautiful day in which the ice-cream van did a cracking trade!
Many thanks to all the volunteers – particularly the massive help from the Ventnor Youth Football Club folk who did a lot of cooking and somehow parked all the cars without the usual dramas!
Isle of Wight Randonnée 2025 at Ventnor RFC
Then, on Sunday 4th May, we acted as a marshalling post and feeding station for the Isle of Wight Randonnée in which there were upward of 3000 cyclists taking part.
Thanks to the organisation and thorough preparation by Roly Toombs and his team, the day went without a glitch in which everything was sold and we were even able to offer entertainment in the form of the drummers and dancers of Raw Samba who were excellent.
Ventnor Rugby Club Donates £500 to CRY Charity
As ever we made a donation from the proceeds taken, this year to the CRY Charity (Cardiac Risk in the Young) inspired by a meeting with Gordon Brember from Havant Rugby Club during last year’s Randonnée.
Gordon lost his son Richard in 2018 due to an undiagnosed cardiac condition and has ridden the Randonnée ever since in his memory. Therefore we were delighted to make a presentation of £500 to Gordon and his colleagues on Sunday.

Ventnor Rugby Club Summer Ball and Awards Evening 2024-25 – CANCELLED
Not such good news but we’ve had to cancel the Ventnor RFC Summer Ball and Awards Evening 2024-25 at Rookley Country Park on 7th June due to a lack of ticket sales (ticket holders are currently being refunded, as of 07-05-2025, and should all receive their refunds within the next 10 days).
We will organise something at the club later in the summer for the player awards ceremony. Watch this space!
Ventnor Rugby Club Squad Tie Awards 2024-25
