Ventnor Rugby Club v Sandown and Shanklin Rugby Club Pre-Season Friendly
Great news! Rugby returns to Watcombe on Friday evening (22nd Aug) when Ventnor play the Sandown and Shanklin RFC Hurricanes in a pre-season friendly.
The kick off is at 18:45. Bradders and Molly will have the bar open from 17:30.
This follows a promising pre-season game away to Romsey on Saturday 9th August where a Ventnor squad lost 36 – 12 against Romsey RFC – a team in a league above us. Including two players making debuts for Ventnor RFC – Jordan Allen and Noah McKinney – Ventnor put on a good showing with tries from Max Wheeler and Joe Coghlan and impressed everyone who saw a performance that grew throughout the game to the extent they drew the second half 12 – 12.
Ventnor Carnival 2025
Ventnor Carnival 2025 was a great success despite (or maybe because of) some late decisions on the theme and the crowd enjoyed the lineouts and the hand out of the mini rugby balls supplied by Howden Insurance.
Post Match Meals 2025-26
We are looking for volunteers to prepare post match meals throughout the season. This involves cooking a meal for approx 40 people (it can be cooked at home OR at the club).
Ventnor RFC will reimburse any costs for the ingredients. If we can find enough volunteers, it should result in no-one having to do more than ONE meal during the season. Please find attached a schedule of home matches.

Bar Volunteers 2025-26
Similarly we are looking for anyone who may feel they can help behind the bar on match days. Bradders and Molly will oversee this and help with any training required. Let me know if you want to give it a go.
