Ventnor Rugby Club News Update 3rd September 2025
Ventnor Rugby Club’s pre-season training continues to be well attended (the average number is around 30) and the anticipation for the coming season is growing by the minute.
Damo and our excellent coaching group are excited by the very real steps that the players have made and the lads themselves deserve massive respect for the effort, enthusiasm and dedication they are showing.

Friendly Away to Lymington RFC Saturday 6th September 2025
We travel to Lymington RFC on Saturday (6th Sept) for a pre-season friendly match.
The last time VRFC went there was in February 2022 on a memorable occasion (for those who CAN remember it!) when our 2nd XV suffered a “narrow loss” (sic) but then managed to get the home team banned from their own clubhouse (the local pub) through the dominating excellence of our boat race team and “other factors”.
Friendly Home against Lymington RFC Saturday 13th September 2025
Lymington will then come to Watcombe on Saturday 13th September for a return friendly fixture. The kick off will be at 2pm.
A big shout out to the Club’s Fixtures Secretary Clive for doing all the donkey work in order to get these fixtures nailed down (plus all the associated transport).
Hampshire Cup 2025-26 – Bye in the First Round
We have a bye in the first round of the Hampshire Cup on 20th Sept so we are trying to get another friendly arranged.

Bar Duty and Post-Match Food
Many thanks to those who have stepped up for bar duty and post-match food.
We still need more if possible, so please come forward if you can help.
First Vice Presidents’ (VP’s) Lunch of 2025-25
The first VPs’ lunch is on 4th October to coincide with our first 1st XV league game. Ventnor’s mayor, Steve Cooper, will be in attendance to present the match ball to 1st Team Captain Lewy to mark the new season.
The excellent Adrian Besozzi will be our guest speaker (not to be missed). We aim to sit down at 12:30.
Let me know if you’re keen to attend asap because I know it’s going to be busy.
