I spoke too soon, stating There WILL be rugby at Watcombe on Saturday 13 December 2025.
Late yesterday evening, Portsmouth contacted Clive to say they couldn’t travel due to an outbreak of flu within the squad. So the game at Watcombe is OFF!
This means our 1st XV haven’t had a game since they beat Winchester back on 14th November so Damo is planning the mother of all training sessions for the squad at Watcombe instead. The lads need to be ready for the challenge at Wootton NEXT Saturday.
Portsmouth’s cancellation means that Ventnor get another 5 points in Hampshire Counties Three which means – whatever happens this weekend and next – we will finish the year at the top of the table which is an outstanding achievement which the whole squad is determined to build on.
Meanwhile our 2nds travel to Fawley as planned. The Rev Warren Riches leads another strong eighteen man squad, namely: Tom Crews, Cory Turner, Callum Martin, Harry Ottley, Ewan Castle, Ben Mumford, Ed Blake, Dylan Gray, James Green, Luke Starkey, Joel Cocks, Will Broomfield, Olly Wood, Iain Reeves, Henrik Brown, Grant Richardson and Sean Frampton.
