A news update and summary of the latest from Ventnor Rugby Club. 6th January 2026:

Tristan Price has sadly lost his life
It’s with deep sadness that I have to announce that Tristan Price (who most of you would have known as Beast) lost his life on Saturday 3rd January 2026 in a car accident near Roud.
He was literally unique and irreplaceable and his passing will leave a huge void in all our lives. We send our sincerest condolences to his family and to everyone who knew him.

Tristan Price – Beast – Fundraiser GoFundMe
Subsequent to the sad news that Tristan Price – Beast sadly lost his life in a road accident, Jack Rushton at the club, has setup a GoFundMe page in Tristan’s memory
We are raising funds to help support Tristan’s family with the immediate funeral and memorial expenses. Any additional funds raised will be placed into a junior ISA for his daughter, to help support her future and honour Tristan’s legacy as a loving father.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the burden on his family and serve as a tribute to a remarkable man whose life was taken far too soon. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Tristan’s family in your thoughts.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest in peace, Tristan. You will always be part of the Ventnor Rugby Club family.

Premiership South West | Hampshire Merit Tables 2025-26
The Hampshire RFU have reconfigured the Premiership South league so that all the fixtures as published at the start of the season are no longer valid.
Our Fixtures Secretary Clive has been left with the problem of working his way through what’s been proposed for the Ventnor RFC 2XV fixtures so we’ll come back to you when the process has been completed.

Counties 3 Hampshire League 2025-26
Meanwhile Eastleigh RFC’s 2nd XV have been removed from Counties 3 Hampshire league 2025-26 which means our win against them back in November has been made null and void.
This – plus the loss against the Isle of Wight RFC at Wootton before Christmas – means that VRFC’s lead in the league has been cut to just two points above Tottonians RFC.

We play Tottonians RFC 2XV away on 17th January 2026 in which could be a season defining game.

Before that, we host Ellingham and Ringwood RFC on 10th January 2026.

Vice Presidents’ Lunch Update
With Eastleigh RFC out of the league, it means that the Vice Presidents’ lunch will not take place on 24th January 2026. We are now intending to move it to a Vice Presidents’ Lunch on 28th February 2026 when we host Alton RFC.
This was originally an away game but they gave us a walkover when they were meant to travel to us in November so the fixture has been reversed.
There’ll be updates to follow when we know more details.
