Ventnor Rugby Club – Dates for Your Diary this month
A Ventnor XV – boosted by a few extras from the opposition – put on an excellent display away at Fordingbridge RFC on Saturday despite losing 45 – 15.
Two of Ventnor’s tries were scored by Pat Banks (the Postman always delivers!) with Joel Cocks adding the third.

There’s plenty happening at the club in the near future so make some notes in your diaries:
- Next Saturday (11th April 2026) Ventnor 1sts travel to Aldershot and Fleet RFC. This is possibly the biggest game of the season since a win will secure the league title. In fact ONE point will suffice but that stat’ is of no interest to Lewy, the squad and the coaches who are all looking for a big W!
- Also next Saturday, Ellingham and Ringwood RFC 3XV SHOULD have been coming over to play Ventnor 2nds at Watcombe. However, last night, we heard that they’d forfeited the game so there’ll be no rugby at Watcombe on Saturday. However, there is rugby at Watcombe on SUNDAY! See below.
- SUNDAY 12th April 2026. Watcombe welcomes a touring team from Midsomer Norton RFC with a game that kicks off at 13:30. Anyone who fancies a fun game is more than welcome to put their name in the hat.
- Saturday 18th April 2026. The last Ventnor 2nd XV game away at Christchurch RFC.
- Then on Sunday 19th April 2026 we have the Tristan Price Memorial Charity Match for our late friend and Ventnor legend, Tristan ‘Beast’ Price. A Ventnor XV will take on an Executive Command XV made up of Beast’s fellow workers and friends. Please come along and support this event and help raise money for Beast’s dependents. Donations on entry to to Tristan’s GoFundMe There will be a BBQ and bouncy castle etc so it’ll be a real family day.
- Sunday 26th April 2026. We have our annual Youth Rugby Festival at Watcombe with about 350 kids from the ages of 8 to 12 taking part. The event runs from about 09:00 to 14:30 and volunteers to help are very welcome. It’s a big money spinner for the club as well as a lot of fun, so please support the club in any way you can. NB: PLEASE DO NOT park in adjacent neighbouring local residential estates. There is parking onsite at the club.
It’s a busy time but when it’s all gone, that is about it for a highly enjoyable and successful season at Watcombe so take advantage of it while you can!
And don’t forget the Ventnor Rugby Club Dinner Dance and Awards Night on 13th June 2026. You need to get going if want a ticket!
