No Rugby at Watcombe today for Ventnor RFC 2XV
Unfortunately, there is no rugby today at Watcombe since US Portsmouth 2nds can’t raise a team to travel for their Hampshire League match against Ventnor’s 2nds.
This means that, since Christmas, all three teams that were due to come to the Island to play our seconds have reneged. Ventnor’s 2nds, on the other hand, haven’t missed an away fixture all season.
This is pretty disappointing for Jack and his mighty Lions who put up a great showing away against league leaders New Milton last Saturday having travelled with a squad of twenty-five – including VRFC debutants Iain Reeves and Jack Gilbey.
Jack is planning a training session this morning at Watcombe to replace the match so the bar should be open around 12:30 anyway!
Meanwhile our 1st XV travel to Overton for their Hants League 3 match.
Due to the issues with the Red Jets at the moment, they are driving up and we’re very grateful to our travel sponsors Red Funnel for providing us with some free car ferry tickets.
