Ventnor RFC 1XV 22-3 King Alfred’s College RFC February 1993 match report
Ventnor RFC 1XV secured their fifth win in a row with a comfortable victory.
King Alfred’s took the lead in the first half with a well-struck penalty. after Ventnor had been caught offside.
The Islanders quickly replied when a well worked rolling maul put Phil Davey in the score. Dave Martin converted from a difficult angle to give Ventnor a 7-3 lead art half-time.
After the restart, Ventnor’s pressure was rewarded with a second try when a fine solo run from Nigel Malkin took him over.
Ventnor’s third try came from a quickly taken penalty which gave the opportunity for Jason Griffiths to score from close range.
Just before the final whistle, the Islanders grabbed a fourth try when Warren Fresle was first to a long line out ball and rang in unopposed from outside the visitors 22 metre line.
