Ventnor RFC 2XV 55-12 Aldershot and Fleet RFC match report
Saturday 27th September 2003
A fine weekend was capped with a second XV victory that built on the momentum of the 50-plus point victory against Ryde two weeks ago.
The day typified the great ethos of rugby with Sandown and Shanklin Rugby Club providing a couple of players to the home side who, after a bout of serious illness and lame excuses were left short of personnel!
Ventnor started well and were always in control against an Aldershot and Fleet RFC side that contained several first team players and had a heavy pack.
Tries were scored with ease throughout with Warren Riches kicking well to add to his solid game at fullback.
A fine back row led by Dean Magnusson, who covered the pitch with pace and vigour.
The Rogers Merchandising man of the match was Ian Payne who has scored more tries this year than in his previous 21 years with the club!
Try scorers were Payn, 2, Magnurson, 2, Barrett, Burrows, Marsh.
