Rugby at Watcombe this Saturday against Alresford RFC match preview
There’s rugby at Watcombe on Saturday when our 1st XV play Alresford RFC 1XV in the Hampshire Counties League. The kick-off’s at 2pm.
We had a bit of a disastrous game last Saturday when we travelled to Andover RFC. We lost four players through injury in the first 15 minutes, including our skipper Lewis Jones. Jewy had worked so hard to get back onto the field of battle after his hand injury back in early November so to have a recurrence was devastating.
Jewy is going to step away from rugby for the time being to allow the hand to heal properly. Ben Savill will take over the captaincy for the rest of the season.
This Saturday’s game against Alresford RFC 1XV, in the Counties 3 Hampshire league 2023-24, is important in an underwhelming season so let’s have some vocal support for Ben and the lads who never fail to give their all – despite the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
Deano will have the bar open from 1pm.
