There’s rugby games for both Ventnor Rugby Club teams this weekend, Saturday 9 November 2024, with a home game for Ventnor RFC 1Xv and an away game for Ventnor RFC 2XV:
Ventnor RFC 1XV v Portsmouth RFC 2XV Saturday 9 November 2024
The Ventnor 1st XV play at Watcombe this Saturday where take on Portsmouth 2nd XV, in the Counties 3 Hampshire League 2024-25. The kick off is at 14:30.
After the great win away at Overton on 26th October where a rejigged team demonstrated the importance of playing to the tactics honed on the training field. Special mention must be given to 1st XV debutants Jonah Lewin, Alec Bulpitt and Henrik Brown plus Olly Wood and Iain Reeves who were playing only their second 1st team game.
Tottonians RFC 2XV v Ventnor RFC 2XV Saturday 9 November 2024
Meanwhile Ventnor’s 2nd XV travel to Tottonians. Our 2nds – The Lions – have had a tough start to their Hampshire Premiership South campaign.
This game will be their fourth away match of the season while their only home game was cancelled due to the opposition crying off. Jack Rushton and the lads deserve massive credit for fulfilling these fixtures where they have often been facing teams fielding apparent infinite numbers of substitutes!
Thursday’s training is now taking place at the Equestrian Centre at Lake Farm in Rookley (behind The Chequers). Thanks to Neil and Ben Souter for sorting this out. The first session last week was excellent.

Vice Presidents’ Lunch 23 November 2024 Cancelled
The rescheduled Vice Presidents’ lunch on 23rd November has been cancelled because it looks like we’re having two home games on that day and that would be a bridge too far for our inadequate kitchen!! Apologies.
