Ventnor RFC News Update April 2025
A splendid time was had by all players and travelling support on Saturday when we headed out to Aldershot. It was another game that drifted away from us deep in the second half when we were leading. Maybe we are like England in the summer – losing games from a winning position in the last ten minutes! Maybe – again like England we can start tasting victory when the new season starts in September.
Ben Savill is Standing Down as 1XV Captain
Ben Savill is standing down as skipper so I’d like to take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone at the club, for his commitment and fortitude throughout a difficult season when he’s had to put up with availability issues plus losing our head coach at Christmas.
As for his own performances on the pitch, he led from the front and never took a backward step.
Counties 3 Hampshire 2025-26
Meanwhile we’ve heard that Ventnor 1sts will remain in Hampshire Counties Three next season which will be made up of ten teams. The opposition will be:
- Aldershot & Fleet RFC
- Alton RFC
- Eastleigh RFC 2nds
- Ellingham RFC 2nds
- Isle of Wight RFC
- Portsmouth RFC 2nds
- Southampton RFC
- Tottonians RFC 2nds
- Winchester RFC 3rds
Ventnor RFC 1XV Fixtures for the 2025-26 season will be published once finalised and available. Fixtures are expected to start in September 2025 through to April 2026.

Finally don’t forget the Summer Ball and Awards Evening 2024-25 on Saturday 7th June.

With the end of the season approaching and the Ventnor Rugby Club Summer Ball and Awards Evening 2024-25 on the horizon, now is the time for regular spectators, please start thinking about the player who you would nominate and vote for your Supporters’ Player of the Year.
VRFC supporters please vote for your player of the year. He can be from the 1st or 2nd XV.
The Supporters’ Player of the Year 2024-25 Award will be presented to the player at the Ventnor RFC Summer Ball & Awards Evening, on Saturday 7th June 2025
