Don’t forget, a big rugby day for Ventnor RFC tomorrow as the 1st XV meet their strongest opposition so far in the form of Winchester 3rds at Watcombe and the 2nd XV travel to New Milton. Both kick off are at 2:30 pm.
There’s a Vice Presidents’ lunch preceding the match with a sit-down at 13:00. This lunch is now fully subscribed with over 40 attending. The VPs’ lunch is fully subscribed. Let’s be sat down for 1:00pm so we can enjoy the match! Ted Funnel is making an appearance and the Autumn Internationals will be on the TV. What’s NOT to like?
Lewy leads a strong squad for the home game, namely:- Ed Blake, Tom Branagh, Alec Bulpit, George Collett, Jason Coltham, Tom Crews, Josh Ford, Cody Hayman, Jewy Jones, Jacob Jordan, Dan Lythgoe, Hayden Lythgoe, Jack Rushton, Tom Scadden, Ben Souter, Harvey Wheeler and Max Wheeler.
Winchester lie third in the league, 5 points behind Ventnor, so we need a win to extend our lead. The lads are really up for it so we’re hoping for another five pointer.
Meanwhile our league-leading 2nd XV travel to New Milton RFC, against their 2nds, for a tough fixture that will decide who heads the Hampshire Premiership South table by the end of Saturday.
With Jack Rushton – once again – called into the 1st XV, Warren Riches leads the 2nd XV squad, namely:- Josh Braham, William Broomfield, Ewan Castle, Joel Cocks, Sean Frampton, Nathan Frampton, Fred Fairman, Ross Harris, Tony Jacobson, Riley Lloyd, Callum Martin, Noah McKinney, Ben Mumford, Iain Reeves, Luke Starkey and Olly Wood.
Prior to the match at Watcombe, Ted Funnel – the Red Funnel mascot – will be in attendance so bring the kids along!
Ventnor Rugby Club Selection Box Appeal
Tim Davis is heading up his annual Christmas collection for children in hospital and in the hospice and has this announcement to make.
“Hello you beautiful humans
It’s that time of the year again, the Ventnor Rugby club selection box appeal, but this year – just like our teams in the leagues – I want to smash previous seasons numbers.
For those new to the club, we drop collection boxes off to The hospice/children’s ward and sometimes other great causes if we get enough.
Every game from now till Christmas at home I would love it if players, supporters, opposing teams could bring a selection box/some chocolates and put them in the donation box.
This year I will also be putting a Christmas tin on the bar so if you could drop a couple of quid in the tin would be amazing and if your feeling extra Christmassy even after training.
I’ve also invested in some stickers for selection boxes so people that receive them know that Ventnor cares, I mean I was going to write on them ‘Merry Christmas, it could be worse you could play for Wootton’ but nobody wants that bitter taste in their mouth at all – let alone this festive time of the year!”
