Match report Overton 1st XV v Ventnor 1st XV 09/12/2017
Overton 1st XV 63-0 Ventnor 1st XV
Ventnor 1st XV travelled away to Overton RFC on a typical December afternoon to mark the half way point of the season. With Overton sitting one place above Ventnor there was an opportunity to register the first win of the season over the newly promoted team.
Ventnor started with a lot of early pressure and intensity which had been missing from the team during the early games of the season. However, they were unable to convert this pressure into points which they were made to pay for when the home side scored through some quick interplay between the backs. The score was kept down through strong defense and running through Edwards and Gough.
The high intensity of the game proved costly for the away side as they lost players through injury. Ventnor thought they had scored on two occasions only for the referee to not make the difficult decisions in favor of the travelling team. With further injuries coming late in the second half Overton were able to add to their try tally and finally ran out winners through a score line that did not reflect the game.
