Touring Teams at Ventnor Rugby Club this Saturday 7th May 2022
This Saturday (7th May), Ventnor RFC will host touring teams from Thatcham RFC and Sully Sports RFC.
Thatcham RFC are bringing 46 (25 of whom are players) and Sully Sports RFC are bringing 32 (18 of whom are players). They plan to be with us at around 1:30. It’ll be worth being there when they arrive just to witness the fancy dress etc!
Ventnor will be represented by at least 25 players – some playing for Ventnor RFC for the first time.
A few players from the Sandown and Shanklin RFC and Isle of Wight RFC are also joining in on the fun. Our own Clive Cardwell-Hill will referee (so Tangled will probably get another yellow card!).
As ever Mike Flanagan and his crew will be looking after the bar and Tim and Vicki Morgan from the Isle of Wight Proper Burger Co will provide the match food for the tourists and the Ventnor RFC players by way of a hog-roast. Please note, the hog-roast is NOT available to spectators because of limited numbers. However, there will be options on this front which we can announce nearer the time.
The rugby will take the form of four 20 minute games kicking off at around 2:30pm:
Match One – Thatcham RFCv Ventnor RFC
Match Two – Sully Sports RFC v Thatcham RFC
Match Three – Thatcham RFC v The Sully Sports and Ventnor RFC Barbarians
Match Four – A right mix up of teams with Forwards playing in the Backs and vice-versa
The above programme is subject to change dependant on the tourists’ hangovers and other unforeseen eventualities etc . . .
Warren Riches will conduct one of his inimitable raffles with prizes to die for . isle of.
Mike and Gem at Isle of Wight Bouncy Castles are providing an inflatable Gladiator Arena for all comers.
