Ventnor Rugby Club News Update 8 January 2025
Happy New Year from Ventnor RFC. Here’s to a successful 2025!

Ventnor Rugby Club are a Red Funnel Supported Team for 2025

Good news! Once again we have been selected as one of Red Funnel’s Supported Teams which means we will get the vast majority of our cross-Solent travel for free.
Many thanks to Red Funnel who have supported the club for several seasons now which, among other things, has allowed us to keep our rugby player membership subscriptions to an affordable level.

Ventnor RFC 2XV v Millbrook RFC 2XV Saturday 11 January 2025
Next SATURDAY (11th January) our 2nd XV play a home league match against Millbrook 2nds with a kick off at 2pm.
This should be a cracking match because Jack and the lads will be looking for revenge after they were severely outnumbered away from home earlier in the season!

Fixture Cancelled for Ventnor RFC 1XV away to Christchurch RFC 1XV 11 January 2025

Our 1st XV SHOULD have been travelling to Christchurch but Christchurch have had to withdraw from the league (due to lack of players apparently).
Last season, when we travelled there, they fielded two teams in a double-header and the post-match food was almost as good as ours (our grounds manager had five helpings).
It just shows how delicately balanced amateur rugby finds itself right now and how hard we ALL have to work to ensure that we prevail and that we keep the club going for another 50 years!

Also – if you have an insurance renewal coming up (house, contents, car etc) – give Sam Frampton at Howdens Insurance in Newport. Every time insurance is taken out with them, Howdens donate £50 to the club.
Sam has put together 10 quotes to Ventnor RFC members and 8 have been taken up – so the quotes must be pretty competitive and that’s £400 donated to the club. Sam’s number is 07932 091084
