Tottonians RFC 2XV 98-7 Ventnor RFC 1XV, 8 February 2020

By GH

When Tottonians RFC 2nds visited Ventnor RFC in late September last year, two of their players left the ground in ambulances – Harry Morse with a neck injury and Todd Arnison with a leg break.

Tending them both during the wait for the ambulances was Zoe Jones an experienced sports therapist from Newport who ensured that both players were kept comfortable, warm and stable.

Despite being heavily pregnant, Zoe stayed in the cold until Harry and Todd were safely installed in the ambulances and on their way to hospital and then took time out to run Harry’s father from Cowes to St Marys and then back out to collect Todd’s girlfriend from Ryde.

On Saturday the two teams met again at the Tottonians RFC ground in a rearranged match after a late postponement a few weeks ago.

The game was one to forget for Ventnor who travelled light and played a home team reinforced by first team players.

But after the match, the real spirit of rugby revealed itself when Harry and Todd presented Zoe (now accompanied by her two and a half week old daughter, Freya) with a bouquet of flowers in gratitude for the care that she had shown them back in September.
